A clay-colored complex stacked together with a courtyard vibe inside, the highlight is none other than the Morocco Pavilion in Expo 2020! Inside this pavilion is numerous exhibitions and I decided not to cover everything except those that stayed with me. Without further adieu, let's now jump right into what's inside the pavilion!
Morocco Pavilion Highlights:
Welcome Room
The very first part is this room right exactly behind the rectangular door at the entrance. I call this as the welcome room and it shows a glimpse about the nation in different screens piled up in an artistic way.
Take the lift up to the top floor (7th floor) and your journey starts from the top to the bottom. You will then be welcomed by the core of the pavilion, a continuous route taking you to the different exhibitions.
Moroccan Explorers
The color change and visual effect in this section are a little dizzying but I loved this part. It's an exhibition about the three Moroccan Explorers who 'linked Morocco to the World', several centuries ago. And while IBN Battuta is the most famous among the three as far as my radar goes, it's fascinating to know the two more - Al-Sharif al-Idrisi and Al-Hasan Al-Wazzan aka Leo Africanus.
Wait for the color change inside this section for the information of the particular explorer in highlight. Learn more about their lives and tales as explorers and geographers of the pre-modern history.
Bubble of Life
An exhibition which shows 'Seguia Method' on the irrigation system and a playful visual that you can play with, it is a part where you can have fun but leave a little confused. It portrays irrigation and Morocco's way of 'working' with the Ecosystem. However the exhibition doesn't say anything at all which is a little disappointing.
However, I can't deny what an entertaining visual this is! I had fun playing at this part playing along not to get wet. Lol!
The Argan Tree and Argan Stories
If Socotra (Yemen) has a Dragon Tree and Oman has a Frankincense Tree, Morocco has one too. An endemic tree from the Sous region, Morocco takes pride in its Argan Tree!
A replica of the tree and an exhibition of the Argan fruit, a video then plays beside for information. The video shares the uses and the benefits of the Argan fruit - medicinal, nutritional, cosmetic use, and animal feed. A good amount of additional information compared to what we know of Argan oil, isn't it?
Plants Power
I usually hate following the trend, but this place is bright, colorful, and oozing in aesthetics that I can't help but take selfies too. I know you've seen lots of selfies on Instagram already but y'know what I mean ๐
And while it gets overlooked as an 'Instagram-able' room, visitors can learn about the natural resources being used in the medicine and cosmetic field. Explore the room and learn about the plant-based approach, antibiotic resistance, as well as the scientists behind the projects.
Solar Plans
Another playful exhibition, it shows the commitment of Morocco towards Solar Energy.
After learning about Solar Energy and the Noor Power Plant/Station, next is Morocco's Art Exhibit where the journey ends.
The content and the visuals inside the pavilion are really entertaining, playful, and interactive. But there are sections where the information is either overwhelming or nothing at all. Balance is somehow lost in between but nevertheless, the Morocco Pavilion in Expo 2020 is still worth visiting.
