OFW’s Quest to visit the 82 provinces of the Philippines #OFWProject82

With easing travel restrictions after the peak of the pandemic, we have now the opportunity to move and travel freely. As we are all into #revengetravel as they call it, the quite famous ‘Project 81’ has resurfaced as well. More and more travelers are getting to know about this project and while it’s nothing new to me, I also decided to create my version. A staggered project in the making with nothing grand or dramatic, this is my Project 82 of the Philippines, as an OFW. That’s the twist 😉

– What is Project 82 in the Philippines? –

Project 82 is a recently used term to visit all the 82* Provinces of the Philippines. Whether done from North to South in one go or anywhere you wish at your own pace, many travelers aspire to achieve this feat. Reasons and intentions vary from one person to another, but one thing is for sure… we want to experience firsthand the true beauty of the Philippines.

*As of September 2022, the province of Maguindanao is now divided into two – Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao del Sur making it a total of 82 provinces. So for legal purposes, I’m renaming this project to Project 82 instead of the usual Project 81.

– But you’re an OFW… so why & how? –

As an OFW (Overseas Filipino Worker) based in the UAE, it’s true that this Project 82 in the Philippines is hell challenging. But not impossible. I have been to quite a few provinces back when I was a college student and I am picking up where I left off. But since I don’t usually visit the Philippines every year although I am entitled to vacation leave days as mentioned HERE, I still have to plan accordingly.

But what’s the intention? Hear me out. As my travel experiences abroad started accumulating, I don’t want to neglect my very own country and be ignorant of its beauty. I still hold with me that It’s More Fun in the Philippines!

#OFWProject82 Status:

Current record as of February 2023: 17/82

A life-long project without any time restraint, this is where I will keep on updating my journey. Some photos are clickable which will direct you to my posts in that particular destination. Feel free to roam around but others are under construction and have no photos yet. Excuse some of my college photos too (promise I will replace them soon)!
