Applying for a Jordan Tourist Electronic Visa (for eligible Nationalities!)

Dubai Airport

A task requested by my previous boss, I had an opportunity to apply for a Tourist Electronic Visa (E-Visa) for him to Jordan last year. I hesitated a lot about whether to write about it because it wasn't mine and I even made an embarrassing mistake on his passport number. After debating for so long, I decided to write about it to guide applicants with their application. So here I am, shamelessly sharing my experience on how to apply for the Jordan Tourist Electronic Visa. Shall we?

Jordan Tourist Electronic Visa (E-Visa) Eligibility

First things first, check your eligibility through the E-Services Site of the Ministry of Interior:

All along, I thought that the Jordan Tourist Electronic Visa only applies to certain nationalities (with high-ranking passports) and nationalities with valid US & Schengen Visas.

Upon checking the site on August 2024, there are now other criteria to be eligible to apply for the Jordan Tourist Electronic Visa. One of those criteria is for nationalities with residency in certain countries given that the residence visas are valid for up to 6 months. Hello, Philippine Passports with UAE Residency (point 3 below)!

Electronic Visa Application Process

Now that you have checked your eligibility, let’s dive into the application process. Fortunately, the application process is pretty straightforward. Compared to my Kyrgyzstan E-Visa Application, this one's easier and shorter. Also, compared to the portal where I applied for my Uzbekistan E-Visa, their portal is better to navigate and follow.

To give you a summary, the application process is:

  1. Fill out your nationality information
  2. Fill out your personal information (Name, Passport Details, and Visa Choice Selection)
  3. Pay your visa fees
  4. Check your e-mail for your Jordan Electronic Visa (E-Visa)

Visa Costs

During the application (July 2023), we paid JOD 40/USD 57.75/AED 212 for a 3-month/Single Entry visa.

As per the Ministry of Interior E-Services website, the visa fees as of August 2024 are as follows:

  • 1 trip with 3 months validity - 40 JOD
  • 2 trips with 3 months validity - 60 JOD
  • Several trips with 6 months validity - 120 JOD
  • Several trips with 1-year validity - 200 JOD
  • Several trips with 5 years validity - 350 JOD
  • Several trips with 5 years validity - 110 JD (US citizenship only)

Electronic Visa Result

Similar to other instant e-visas I heard such as Morocco’s e-visas for Indian passports, the Jordan Tourist E-Visa was also received instantly upon making the payment. There's no waiting time involved and it didn't even take 5 minutes for us to receive the E-Visa.

BONUS: Jordan Pass

Jordan Pass is a recent project where you can purchase 'Packages' which gives you access to over 40 attractions in Jordan. You will also have downloadable digital brochures of Jordan's tourist attractions and a visit to Petra.

During the visa application process, enter the reference number that you will receive upon purchasing the Jordan Pass. If you're staying in Jordan for a minimum of 3 nights, your Jordan Tourist Electronic Visa fee will be automatically waived!

While I did not buy this for my boss, I discovered its terms and conditions while researching the application for the Jordan Tourist Electronic Visa. So might as well share it with everyone!
