People Hostel & Coworking in the city center of Bishkek

Due to my deep affection for People Hostel and its staff in Bishkek, when I heard that they were opening a new property, I was sold. A bigger property with three buildings in total, People Hostel & Coworking in Bishkek is not only for short-term travelers like me but also for those who work on the go!

Location in Bishkek

Centrally located on Pushkin Street, People Hostel & Coworking is not very far from Chuy Avenue in Bishkek. Some key landmarks nearby are the International University of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek City Hall, and Manas Statue.

While the hostel is quietly tucked next to residential buildings, access to necessities is not a problem. Cafes, restaurants, and groceries are all just a walking distance away. If you need more, there are also two malls nearby: I-Mall and Bishkek Park.

Rooms & Facility of People Hostel & Coworking

Similar to my stay in the People Hostel in Baitik Baatyr Street, I also stayed here continuously instead of hostel hopping. Well, I did skip a night during the Son Kul trip, but I stayed loyal once more. I was in the female dorm throughout and just changed beds once from an upper to a lower one.

As usual, the interior is exactly the same. A contemporary look with brown and black tones, wooden floors and furniture, and the occasional yellow and white accents.

Rooms

An all-female dorm, there are 6 beds inside provided with a cabinet and a drawer. Compared to all the rooms I've been to in the People Hostel in Baitik Baatyr Street, the female dorm is the most spacious one I've been to. You can definitely do some cartwheels and yoga in the middle of the room.

I still loved its blackout curtains which gave me a sense of privacy. But what I love here is its USB port and that means I can just charge my gadgets without having to find my adapter.

On top of that, there's a shelf at the end of the bed which makes life so easy. You know, those little trinkets and stuff that you think you'll need and want to be accessible instead of putting and pulling them in your luggage every single time.

Facilities & Common Areas

Similar to my mistake last time, I don't have enough photos of the property once again. The procrastinator in me always won and all of a sudden, it's the last day and I'm in a rush. Anyway, enough of the excuses.

People Hostel & Coworking, as mentioned in the beginning, has three buildings. The main building is where the reception is as well as the huge coworking space on an entire floor (sorry I have no photo) on the second floor. The dining room and the kitchen are also in the main building and it's usually bustling with lots of travelers interacting with each other.

The other two buildings are for the dorms and private rooms. In between the three buildings is the yard and the table tennis which is also always occupied except in the mornings up to midday.

Unlike in Baitik Baatyr Street where there's a dedicated bathroom for each gender, here there are three shared bathrooms for everyone staying in the same building regardless of gender. Nevertheless, they were well-maintained and clean by the housekeeping lady.

Next to the shared bathroom is a huge room for the washing machines and the shelves of fresh and clean linens ready for use. Whenever I'm doing my laundry, I usually watch the housekeeping lady passionately prepare the linens. She even changed my linen after a few days' stay without me asking. I must say that she has a high standard of cleanliness!

People Hostel & Coworking Cost

As a fan of Booking.com, here's how much it cost me for my 4-night stay in a female dorm in People Hostel & Coworking in Bishkek:

Typical of me, of course, I have extended my stay. On top of the 4-night stay I originally booked, I have extended 3 more nights and paid the hostel directly. As of July 2024, a night stay in the female form in People Hostel & Coworking in Bishkek costs 1000 soms per night.

Conclusion

Undeniably, the new People Hostel & Coworking in Bishkek is much bigger and has everything I've been looking for in a hostel. Not only compared to the People Hostel in Baitik Baatyr Street but compared to all the hostels I've been to. Its location is great, budget-friendly for frugal travelers like me, and has positioned itself as a great base for digital nomads who want to call Bishkek home.

It doesn't have a homey feeling though, I think nothing can beat my experience in People Hostel in Baitik Baatyr Street. But, I would never hesitate to stay here again, especially if I finally start my nomad journey. And since I haven't, I would keep in hostel hopping for a while. That's all folks and see you on the road!
