Registan Hostel - A step away from Registan Square in Samarkand

Registan Hostel in Samarkand

Despite my initial struggle to secure a hostel stay in Tashkent, locating a hostel in Samarkand turned out to be a breeze. With only three shared rooms, Registan Hostel in Samarkand appears to be the ideal fit for my stay!

Location of Registan Hostel in Samarkand

With just over 400 meters from the viewing platform of Registan Square, Registan Hostel is practically a stone's throw away from this renowned Samarkand landmark. On the opposite side of the hostel lies another notable site, the Amir Temur Mausoleum, a mere 700 meters away.

Both of these renowned landmarks are within walking distance of the hostel. Additionally, the hostel is conveniently located near several restaurants and grocery stores. While options may be somewhat limited in Samarkand overall, you'll certainly find the essentials readily available.

Registan Hostel's Rooms & Facility

With just three shared rooms, Registan Hostel is undeniably tiny & compact. You shouldn't anticipate amenities like a dedicated co-working space, breakfast service, or extensive laundry facilities similar to those found at People Hostel in Bishkek.

Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by a reception desk and a modest dining area, which can double as a makeshift co-working space if necessary. Additionally, there's a small kitchen equipped with all the essential appliances such as a microwave, fridge, sink, and cutlery. Last but not least, a separate toilet and shower facilities are available for each gender, along with a washing machine.

There are only three shared rooms available: a female dorm, a male dorm, and a mixed-gender dorm. I opted for a female dorm which has a total of three bunk beds.

Fortunately, not all the beds were occupied during my stay, allowing for a peaceful and restful atmosphere even with all roommates present. While I can't recall if we were provided with separate cabinets, there was a pull-out drawer at the foot of each bed where you could safely store your belongings.

The presence of a window next to my bed was certainly a welcome feature, brightening the room during the day and contributing to a sense of spaciousness. Additionally, there were sockets available for charging electronic devices. However, it's important to note the absence of USB plugs, so be sure to bring along any necessary adaptors.

Hostel Cost

Booked through Booking.com once again, this is the cost of a 1-night stay from the platform:

With no prepayment required, payment was settled directly at the hotel upon my arrival. With an additional night (technically a half-day to accommodate my late-night train schedule), I paid a total of UZS300,000 (equivalent to $24 or AED89 in *my* local currency). Despite the extra cost, I still found it to be affordable, especially considering its proximity to historical landmarks.

Conclusion

Registan Hostel may be one of the smallest hostels I've been to, but it more than adequately met my needs. It offers a decent, clean, and affordable stay, with its prime location being the cherry on top. If hostels suit your preferences, don't hesitate and book your stay here.
