The Manor Hotel in Davao City

Lobby of The Manor Hotel in Davao City

Before heading to Digos for my multi-day hike in Mount Apo via Santa Cruz Trail, I had to spend a night in Davao City. Having spent only 6 hours in this hotel property, let me share my first impression from where I stayed. A rustic yet decent, The Manor Hotel in Davao City will give you a good night's rest. If you're looking for a place to stay before your hike too, check this review!

Location of The Manor Hotel in Davao City

Just two blocks away from Bangkerohan in Davao City, the Manor Hotel is located along A. Pichon Street/Magallanes Street. Next to the Q8 Hotel and Sony Authorized Service Center, the property is inside a three-story building with a limited parking space in front.

Some rooms are fortunate enough to have a window. Though not much of a city view, getting a glimpse of the traffic from the main road still qualifies as an advantage.

The Manor Hotel's Rooms & Facility

Since I spent so little time that night, I wasn't able to fully explore the property. Apart from its lodging service, I am afraid I don't have any information on what the property can offer. Do note though that the reception is not 24/7 and you should communicate to the property your time of arrival/departure to avoid any surprises.

Additionally, there is no lift/elevator available so you may have to give it a thought if you are coming with heavy luggage that you can't carry on your own.

If you're here only for the rooms, like me, the basics were covered. You get a decent and comfortable bed (comfort is relative though) with a no-frills cabinet and bathroom.

It's nothing grand but the room I got served its purpose. The amenities such as the TV and the air-conditioning unit are both functional but won't exceed someone's expectations. The bathroom is clean and you can even take advantage of the free shampoo and shower gel placed in the shower area. Unfortunately, it doesn't come in those cute travel sizes that you can take home.

While the room and the property are decent enough to provide for my (and anyone's) needs, I think it's high time to revamp the property, the rooms, and the amenities. Not only because the travel demand is back and the competition is getting fiercer day by day but because they have to leverage the potential of the property.

Hotel Cost

As a Booking.com user, this is the cost of a 1-night stay from the platform:

1 night cost in a Single Room at The Manor Hotel in Davao City

No prepayment was needed, I paid directly to the hotel upon my arrival. In local currency, I paid Php 830.00 plus a refundable security deposit of Php 500.00. The deposit was given back to me by the security guard upon my check-out since the reception is not 24/7.

Despite being a little pricey compared to the competition, The Manor Hotel is a decent property. You get what you pay for - location accessibility and comfort. If given a chance to come back to Davao City, I may or may not book again from this property.
